1. This gentleman was hired by the Ohio Company (wealthy Virginians) to map out the Western Pennsylvania area and find the best place to settle. 2. During his expedition he claimed the land along the Allegheny and Ohio Rivers for the French by burying lead plates at the mouth of the streams. 3. He was the Governor of Virginia who selected George Washington to deliver a message to the French (Get out of the area). 4. He was the new Governor of French Canada. His orders were to stop the progress of the English in the Western Pennsylvania area. 5. The French built this fort in the present day Pittsburgh as the French and Indian War began. 6.This person was sent to Pennsylvania to lead the war in Pennsylvania for the British.
